Privacy Policy

Notaty ("Notaty," "we," "us," or "our") provides a mobile application that turns your voice recordings, documents, and photos into structured notes, transcripts, flashcards, and quizzes. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

By using Notaty, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

Information we collect

Account information. When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo (if available) from that provider. Apple may give us a private relay email address instead of your real one — that's Apple's choice, not ours, and we treat it the same way.

Content you create. Recordings you make, documents you upload, and photos you capture are processed to produce transcripts, structured notes, chat answers, flashcards, and quizzes. The resulting text — transcripts, notes, chat history, flashcards, quizzes, and your schedule/reminders — is stored in your account so it syncs across your devices.

Usage and device information. We keep basic account activity (like when you last signed in) and, if you enable notifications, a device token used to deliver them.

Your audio is never stored on our servers

This is the core privacy commitment behind Notaty: recordings never leave your device permanently. When you record, the audio stays on your phone or Apple Watch. To generate a transcript, the audio is uploaded temporarily to our servers, processed, and then immediately and automatically deleted — this happens whether processing succeeds or fails. We never keep a copy. Only the resulting text (the transcript and the notes built from it) is stored in your account.

The same applies to documents and photos you summarize — they're processed and then deleted from our servers. Voice-based Smart Reminders never touch our servers' storage at all: the audio is transcribed in memory and discarded immediately. For YouTube summaries, your device fetches the video's transcript directly from YouTube — only that text is sent to us.

How we use your information

We use the information above to:

• Provide the core service — turning recordings, documents, and photos into notes, transcripts, chat answers, flashcards, and quizzes
• Sync your notes, schedule, and study material across your devices
• Manage your subscription and enforce usage limits on the free tier
• Respond to support requests
• Notify you about important changes, like updates to this Privacy Policy or our Terms of Service

We do not use your content to serve you ads, and we do not sell your personal information to anyone.

Third parties we work with

To provide the service, some information is shared with the following providers, strictly to perform the task described:

• Speech-to-text provider — transcribes your audio into text. Receives raw audio only for the duration of transcription.
• OpenAI — turns transcripts, documents, and images into structured summaries, chat answers, flashcards, quizzes, and translations (GPT-4o mini). Receives the relevant text or image content for that request only.
• RevenueCat — manages subscriptions on our behalf. Receives your account identifier and subscription status (plan, renewal date, price) — never your payment details.
• Apple — handles sign-in, push notifications, and all App Store billing.
• Firebase / Google Cloud — hosts our servers, database, and file storage, all located in the United States.
• Resend — delivers transactional emails (for example, support replies or policy update notices).

None of these providers are permitted to use your data for their own purposes.

Where your data is processed

Our servers run entirely in the United States (Google Cloud regions us-central1 and us-east1). If you use Notaty from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.

How long we keep your data

We keep your account and content for as long as your account exists, so your notes stay available across your devices. You can delete your account at any time from Settings inside the app. When you do, your profile, notes, transcripts, chats, flashcards, quizzes, schedule, and all other content tied to your account are permanently deleted. We retain one narrow exception: an anonymous, device-level identifier used purely to prevent abuse of the free tier (for example, someone repeatedly deleting and recreating accounts to bypass usage limits). This identifier is not linked to your name, email, or content after deletion.

Your choices

• Access and export. Your notes, transcripts, and study material are visible to you in the app at any time.
• Delete your account. Available anytime from Settings → Account. This is permanent and cannot be undone.
• Notifications. You can disable push notifications from your device settings at any time.

Children's privacy

Notaty is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@notatyapp.com and we will delete it.

Security

We use industry-standard measures — encryption in transit, access controls, and the automatic deletion practices described above — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data appropriately.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make a meaningful change, we'll update the "last updated" date shown on this page and notify existing users by email. Continuing to use Notaty after an update means you accept the revised policy.
